Local trains in Mumabi to open for vaccinated people from Aug 15

Mumbai: In a big relief to Mumbaiities, local trains will be open from August 15 to fully vaccinated people 14 days after their second jab, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray announced here on Sunday.

“We are extending some relaxations now but if cases increase, we will have to impose lockdown again. So I appeal to you to not invite another wave of Covid,” Mr Thackeray said in his address through Facebook Live.

He said the Government will launch an app on which people can update if they have received both doses and when they took their second dose. People can get passes either from the app or from the offices, he said.

The Chief Minister said passengers who did not have a smartphone could an take photo passes from municipal ward offices in the city as well as suburban railway stations. These passes are meant for local travel which will have QR codes so that the railway administration coulan verify their authenticity, he said.
