New Delhi: New Delhi has rejected the Chines claims on Galwan valley made after the bloody clashes in the easter Ladakh sector.
India has described the Chinese claims as ”exaggerated and untenable.”
The statement came amid the third round of talks between Army officials of India and China being held to ease the tension that had shot up following the bloody skirmishes between the two armies in Galwan Valley on Monday night, resulting in the death of 20 Indian soldiers.
” As we have conveyed earlier today External Affairs Minister and the State Councillor and Foreign Minister of China had a phone conversation on recent developments in Ladakh. Both sides have agreed that the overall situation should be handled in a responsible manner and that the understandings reached between Senior Commanders on 6th June should be implemented sincerely. Making exaggerated and untenable claims is contrary to this understanding,” Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs Anurag Srivastava said responding to a media query on June 17 night.
Senior Colonel Zhang Shuili, spokesperson for the Western Theater Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) had on June 16 said the sovereignty over the Galwan Valley area had always belonged to China.
In the bloodiest border skirmish of the last 45 years, Chinese Army has also sufferred casualties but they have not given any figures.
