Jan 17, 2021

Chandigarh: Terming the present government at the Centre as weak and oblivious of people’s need, Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Badal has said that farmers of the country would continue to fight  for their rights till their demands are met.

Addressing party workers at the Congress House here, Badal quoted from famous Urdu poet Ram Prasad Bismil’s immortal lines,” sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamare dil mein hai, dekhna hai zor kitna baazue qatil mein hai.”( We are ready to die for our country, so no ruthless force can be a deterrance for us).

He said farmers were staging their protest at the border with Delhi, and they were determined to carry on their agitation till an indefinite period.

The Punjab Finance Minister credited the Congress with having laid the foundations of strong institution in the country like the Supreme Court, the Election Commission, the Autditor General to strengthen democracy and the rule of law.

He, however, expressed regert that the Modi Government was weakening all these vital pillars of democracy.

Meanwhile, even as the farmers’ agitation entered 54th day today, Union Agriculture Minister said it was ready for any alternative except for the farmers’ demand for repeal of the three farm laws.
