Hyderabad: 10 arrested for student’s murder over love affair

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police have arrested 10 persons for the brutal murder of a 21-year-old engineering student over a love affair.

Police announced the arrests and produced the accused before the media on Monday, three days after the murder of Bomman Yavan alias Akhil within the limits of Chilkalguda Police Station.

The accused include the girl’s father, her uncles, and other relatives.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Rakshitha Krishna Murthy told the media that the crime was committed on the night of May 7 at Indira Nagar Colony, Medibavi.

A case of murder, unlawful assembly, and carrying deadly weapons was registered against the accused.

According to the police, the family was against their daughter’s relationship with the victim.

They had warned the boy to stay away from the girl.

The investigation revealed that the accused had hatched the plan to kill him four days earlier and also kept him under surveillance.

On the night of May 7, when the victim was at a friend’s house, the accused went there and started an argument.

The accused took out a knife, stabbed him 10 to 15 times, and fled the scene.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police said six accused were involved in the crime scene, while four others, including the girl’s father, her uncles, and other relatives, were also named as accused.

Most of the accused in the case are aged 17 to 23.

One of the accused is a minor.

On the complaint of the victim’s father, Srinivas, a case under Sections 103(1), 189(1)(4), 191(3) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered.

The main accused, Allaboina Sai Kiran alias Sai, is a rowdy-sheeter.

Previously, he was involved in an attempted murder case.

The other accused are Rajam Paramesh Kumar Yadav alias Don, Rajam Vamshi Krishna alias Rakhi, Rajam Manish alias Bichu, Srigiri Rahul, Kuchula Shiva Nandan Yadav, Rajam Narsimha Yadav, Rajam Srisailam Yadav, and Rajam Mallesh Yadav alias Mallanna.

The investigation also revealed that the main accused, Sai Kiran, intended to marry Chandrika, with whom Yavan had a long-term love affair.

Four to five days before the murder, the accused held a meeting at Medibavi to hatch a plan to eliminate the victim.

They maintained constant surveillance on the movements of deceased Yavan.

Police recovered one sharp-edged knife, one electric scooter, and multiple mobile phones used in the commission of the offence.

Police issued a strict, final warning to any individuals or groups contemplating violence, revenge, or public order disruption.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police made it clear that there will be zero tolerance for vigilantism.

Any attempt by youth groups, relatives, or associates of the deceased to take the law into their own hands — including revenge attacks, property damage, or intimidating the families of the accused — will invite the strictest legal consequences, she said.
