Lucknow: Lakhs of students in Uttar Pradesh heaved a sigh of relief on Thursday as the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) declared the results of the High School (Class 10) and Intermediate (Class 12) examinations for 2026.

Girls once again dominated the merit list with an impressive performance. In the High School examination, Kashish Varma of Sitapur and Anshika Varma of Barabanki jointly secured the first position in the state after scoring 97.83 per cent marks.

In Class 10, 90.42 per cent of students have passed, while in Class 12, 80.38 per cent of students have passed.

In the Intermediate examination, Shikha Varma of Sitapur topped the state with 97.60 per cent marks.

Students must secure at least 33 per cent marks to pass the UP Board Class 10 and Class 12 examinations. Those who do not meet the minimum requirement will have the option to appear for compartmental examinations.

The UP Board examinations were conducted from February 18 to March 12 across 8,033 examination centres in all 75 districts of the state.

Evaluation of answer sheets was carried out at 254 centres between March 18 and April 4, involving the deployment of around 55,976 teachers. Nearly 1.23 crore answer sheets of the Intermediate examination were evaluated during this period.

UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh said that the list of toppers was released along with the declaration of results. He added that students who have achieved excellence at the state level will be honoured by the Uttar Pradesh government.

Students can access their results through the board’s official website, DigiLocker, and SMS services.

Approximately 26.02 lakh candidates appeared in the High School examination, while 24.91 lakh students took the Intermediate examination, highlighting the extensive scale of the state’s education system.

Following the smooth conduct of the examinations, the evaluation of nearly 2.75 crore answer books was completed within just 15 working days at the 254 evaluation centres. To ensure accuracy and reliability in the assessment process, principals and senior lecturers were appointed as examiners this year.

The board said the examinations were conducted in a peaceful and malpractice-free manner.
