New Delhi: Peace party’s advertisement in Udru papaers calling for all ”sacrifice to establishthe diktat of God (Ahkaam-e-Ilahi) and administration of Mustafa (Nizam-e-Mustafa), was on Sundanday strongly rejected by Indian Muslims for Progress and Reforms (IMPAR), saying such actions were against the idea of India.
IMPAR, an influential think tank of Indian Muslims, questioned the wisdom and motives of the political outfit as well as the newspaper policies to give space to such advertisements.
Such attempts only seek to buy cheap popularity rather than solving any problems of the society, the progressive Muslims’ body said.
”IMPAR believes that no organisation should be allowed to exploit the religious sentiments of the people for petty political gains. India is deep rooted democracy and people have firm faith in its institutions, secular character and national ethos, and any attempt to divide the people and pushing them to fanatic thinking must be rejected by all. Such parties must know that Indian Muslim can not be misled by emotional appeals, which aim to divide the people on religious lines,” the progressive Muslims’ body said.
IMPAR said any attempts to promote fanaticism, religious intolerance and internal divide at a time when the country was struggling with Covid pandemic and economic problems, espcially the rapidly growing unemployment, must be rejected by all.
It said it was working on promoting broader outlook and progressive thinking among the community youth as well as the understanding about the shared values and cultural heritage.
”India is secular democracy with strong institutions that need to be strengthened for the country to progress to the path of becoming world leader, which IMPAR with all its energy and means is engaged in promoting. We call upon all like-minded forces to join together and build a strong nation of inclusive growth, shared values and hopes and trust,” it said.
