Beat BJP leaders with slippers if they seek vote in PM’s name: Hindu Sena chief

Ahead of the Karnataka Assembly polls, Rashtriya Hindu Sena chief Pramod Muthalik hit out at the BJP and asked the people to beat the leaders of the saffron party “with slippers” if they try to seek votes in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The controversial Hindutva leader, who had announced to contest the assembly election as an independent candidate from Karkala, said that the BJP leaders are nalayaks (useless). “They take Modi’s name but they will not understand the problems of their workers,” he said. The Legislative Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in Karnataka before May 2023.

He also dared the BJP leaders to try to woo voters without using Modi’s name and picture. “This time, ask for votes without using Modi’s name. Let there not be photos of Modi on pamphlets and banners. Tell voters that you have done development, you have rescued cows, you have worked for Hindutva. Try seeking votes with the pride of beating your chest that you had worked so much,” Muthalik said.

He advised the public not to vote in favour of the BJP, saying that the saffron party only knows to use “Modi’s name” to win votes.

“They won’t do that (seek a vote without using PM Modi’s name), they will come again to your doorstep. Asking you all to ‘please cast your votes to Modi, please cast your votes to Modi’. Beat them with slippers if they take Modi’s name…,” Muthalik added.

Meanwhile, Mutalik filed a complaint with the Lokayukta Police seeking a comprehensive probe into an alleged ‘benami’ land transaction in Shivapura village of Hebri taluk in Karkala assembly constituency of Karnataka, according to Hindustan Times.

Earlier, Muthalik claimed that he had the support of some BJP leaders who had offered to financially help to contest the elections.

The hate preacher has recently called on young Hindu men to lure “10 Muslim girls if we lose one Hindu girl” through “love jihad”. He assured security and employment to the men.

Muthalik claimed that thousands of Hindu girls were being exploited in the name of “love jihad”, and called for young men to “respond in kind”. “We are aware of the situation. I would like to invite the youth here. If we lose one Hindu girl, we should trap 10 Muslim girls. If you do so, the Sri Ram Sena will take responsibility for you and provide every kind of security and employment,” he said on February 19.
