Delhi: Magenta Line services resumed between Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh and Botanical Garden stations

Services on the Magenta Line – between Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh to Botanical Garden – have now been restored. The services were earlier suspended for about an hour owing to “security reason”, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said.

“Magenta Line Update…Services are not available between Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh to Botanical Garden due to security reason. Normal services on all other lines,” the DMRC tweeted around 2:50 pm. Later, in another tweet, it said: “Normal services have resumed.”

Delhi Police said operations were suspended as a drone carrying medical supplies had fallen on the metro track near Jasola Vihar. “…Due to this, metro service from Jasola Vihar, Shaheen Bagh to Botanical Garden was disrupted but now metro service has resumed,” news agency ANI quoted the police.

The Delhi metro, which is also considered the lifeline of Delhi, has a total network length of 391 km with 12 lines and 286 stations.

Only a day before on Saturday, Delhi Metro celebrated its 20 years of operations in the national capital. In December 2002, the Delhi Metro began operations with an 8.2-kilometer corridor connecting six Red Line stations, as per media report.

It will have grown to a network of over 390 kilometres by 2022, capping a dramatic 20-year development, reported Zee News. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation currently operates various routes in the national capital and surrounding cities. The first length of the DMRC, an 8.2-kilometer route with only six stations running from Shahdara to Tis Hazari, was officially opened on December 24, 2002, one day before the Delhi Metro began accepting pay passengers.
