Feb 1, 2020

New Delhi: A man opened at the Shaheen Bagh anti-CAA/NRC protest site in the national capital
here on Saturday creating scare and tension in the area.

However, no one was injured in the shooting.

The man, identified as Kapil in the media reports, has been arrested. The man opened fire in the air, but he was soon overpowered by police.

He made communally charged statements (” Only what the Hindus want in this country will happen.”)

The protest at Shaheen Bagh-Noida road has been going for over one and a half month now.

Earlier, a juvenile, belonging to an extremist Hindu outfit opened fire at the site near Jamia Millia University where students are carrying on protest against the CAA/NRC and police brutalities on them in an assault on the campus on December 15. One student of the university had been injured in the firing.

Protesters at the Shaheen Bagh have condemned what they called the ”Police laxity” in allowing armed persons to sneak in.
