Patna: The National Democratic Alliance of the Janata Dal (United) and the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state of Bihar ended on Tuesday. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is likely to resign after meeting the Governor of Bihar, Phagu Chauhan at 4 pm today. The decision was taken after a meeting at CM’s residence, reports ABP News.
In the meeting held with the party leaders in Patna, the chief minister said that BJP is conspiring to break the JD(U). JD(U) Nalanda MP Kaushalendra also said that the BJP had been trying to lure its leaders to break away from the party and that many were offered Rs 6 crore to do so, reports The Quint.
Sources said that in the JDU meeting, all the party MPs and MLAs supported Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s decision and said that they are all with him. He said that he will always be with them no matter what the decision is.
After submitting his resignation as Chief Minister to Governor Phagu Chauhan on Tuesday, Nitish Kumar returned to the Raj Bhavan, this time with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, to stake claim to form a new government.
Both the leaders sat in one car to reach the Raj Bhavan. Besides them, JD-U leaders Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Shrawan Kumar and other leaders were also present.
A meeting of the leaders of Mahagathbandhan was held in 1 Anne Marg where the gathering elected Nitish Kumar as a leader in the Assembly, paving way for his return as Chief Minister.
