IMPAR writes to Dr Harshvardhan for action against Dr Chandani of GSVMC

New Delhi: Indian Muslims for Progress and Reform(IMPAR) has written a letter to Union Health Minister Dr Harshvardhan demanding action against Kanpur ‘s GSVM Medical college Principal Dr Arti lal Chandani after a video of her purported hate statements against Tbaleeghi Jamaat members went viral, evoking strong protests.

The letter issued by executive director of IMPAR Khalid Mahmood Ansari said that Dr. Arti Lalchandani was trying to destroy the social harmony and to defame a particular community through hate speech at a time when the whole country was trying unitedly to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ansari also attached with the letter the video clip of the doctor’s statements.

”The statement of Dr. Arti is an attempt to damage the social fabric. Since, Dr. Arti Lal Chandani is a Government servant and especially a doctor, both of her professions do allow to discriminate, give hate speech and to call any particular group or community as a terrorist,” the letter said

”I would like to request you to kindly direct MCI to consider the cancellation of her Medical Registration and to direct the concerned authority to initiate disciplinary proceeding against her,” IMPAR demanded.

Ansari pointed out that Dr. Arti’s statement is in violation of para 3(1) (i) Maintain absolute Integrity, Rule 3(1) (iii) Unbecoming of a Govt. Servant, 3(1)(vi) maintain high ethical standards and honesty, 3(1) (XVI) act with fairness and impartiality and not discriminate against any one, 3(1)(XVIII) Refrain from doing anything which is contrary to
law, rules, regulation and established procedure and Rules (9) Criticism of Government policy of CCS Conduct Rules, 1964.

The Principal objective of the medical profession is to render service to humanity with full respect for the dignity of profession and man Code of Medical Ethics regulation, 2002 issued by Medical Council of India.

”Dr. Arti Lalchandani has violated the various line of CCS Conduct Rules,1964, Code of Medical Ethics regulation, 2002 and has tried to damage the social fabric of the Nation.

Her statement is also in violation of para 1.(1.1) A physician shall uphold the dignity and honour of his profession and Para 1(.2.1) The Principal objective of the medical profession is to render service to humanity with full respect for the dignity of profession and man Code of Medical Ethics regulation, 2002 issued by Medical Council of India.

Dr. Arti Lalchandani has violated the various line of CCS Conduct Rules,1964, Code of Medical Ethics regulation, 2002 and has tried to damage the social fabric of the Nation, ”the IMPAR Executive Directer said.

He also congratulated Dr Harshvardahn on becoming Chairman of WHO Executive Board. ‘We are firm that under your guidance, WHO will reach a new height and India will play a vital role in bringing the world out of this health crisis.”

The recently founded IMPAR is promoted by 200 plus most prominent Muslims from different walks of life. It is a national think tank, research and advocacy centre, which aims to work in making a meaningful difference to the community’s engagement with the society and the nation.

IMPAR focuses on social and political issues, policies and perceptions pertaining to Indian Muslims and creating better understanding and opinions among the people and communities by meaningfully engaging with key stakeholders – Government, media, other think tanks, and social, cultural, religious and political organizations.
