IMPAR conveys Muslims’ concerns on CAA/NRC to head of Parliamentary panel

Aug 5, 2020

New Delhi: A five member IMPAR delegation on Wednesday met Mr. Raghu K Raju, MP and Chairman, Parliamentary Subcommittee on Legislative Rules here this evening to apprise him of the concerns of the Muslim community about the CAA/NRC.

The delegation led by Dr. MJ Khan was assured by Mr Raju that MPAR would be invited for a formal presentation before the Committee.

IMPAR (Indian Muslims for Progress and Reform) underscored to the MP the massive problems, corruption and untold miseries caused to the people during the NRC process in Assam, and how still 1.80 million could not prove their citizenship, including 1.20 million Hindus.

The delegation urged Mr. Raju to take up its concerns with MHA to make rules simple and flexible so that all genuine citizens are able to obtain citizenship without difficulties.” Mr. Raju sounded very sympathetic and supportive and promised best possible cooperation. IMPAR will submit a detailed note on the concerns of the community,” an IMPAR spokesperson said.
