IMPAR condemns Bangalore violence, says hurt sentiments cant justify vanadlism

Aug 13, 2020

New Delhi: Indian Muslims for Progress and Reforms(IMPAR) on Wednesday urged Muslim religious groups and community leaders to condemn the Bangalore violence as under no condition law should be taken into hands by civilians under the pretext of hurt religious sentiments.

IMPAR expressed serious concern over the way violent mob went on rampage in Bengaluru’s Pulakeshi Nagar area on Tuesday (August 12) night, which resulted in the death of three persons.

”IMPAR condemns the vandalisation of two police stations, burning of properties and damaging the residence of Congress MLA Akhand Srinivas Murthy. IMPAR also condemns the irresponsible behaviour of those who allegedly shared a social media post against Prophet Mohammad. IMPAR urges the religious groups and community leaders to condemn the incident as under no condition law should be taken into hands by civilians under the pretext of hurt religious sentiments,” the influential Muslim think tank said in a statement here.

The only way to deal with the hurt religious sentiments is to file a police complaint or take legal discourse. IMPAR appreciates the efforts of the police in bringing the situation quickly under control and also supports the State government for ordering an inquiry into the violence that occurred through the parts of the city, the statement said.

It expressed the hope that the DM led enquiry will bring out ”any conspiracies and the role of such elements and organisations who count to consolidate their social and political gains by throwing the society into the flames of fire.”

It also praised the action of the city police for arresting the person who posted controversial content on social media.

”IMPAR further demands that the police must keep strict watch on social media contents and not only check fake and hate material but also take strict actions against all such elements who seek to destroy the peace and social harmony and serve the purpose of politically motivated elements to instigate the mobs to violence,” the satement said.
