Illegal colonizers in Ayodhya include BJP leaders: ADA

Ayodhya: The BJP might make lofty claims that its government in the state and Centre are trying to restore the sanctity of Ayodhya, several leaders of the saffron party have reportedly flouted rules for developing colonies.

The latest release of the Ayodhya Development Authority (ADA) 40 Colonisers are illegal. It includes the names of the local BJP MLA Ved Prakash Gupta, a former party MLA Gorakhnath and the Mayor Rishikesh Upadhyay, according to news agency IANS.

Sultan Ansari and his father Nanhe Mian, who made 18 crores of rupees out of land worth 2 crore, also appear in the list, reported the agency. According to ADA officials, a lot of seers also are involved in illegal sales of land and other property.

As per reports, there has been a flood of illegal plotting and illegal colonies in Ayodhya after SC verdict on construction of Ram Temple in one of the most contentious issues that triggered division in the society for nearly seven decades. It is said to have picked momentum in the 1990s in the wake of Rath Yatra taken out by BJP stalwart LK Advani, paving for communalism to creep into the society.

The agency reported that Ayodhya, considered sacred by Hindus,  has been inundated with illegal plots and illegal colonies since the Supreme Court’s verdict in favour of Ram temple.

The debate about plotting illegally and colonies grew after BJP MP Lallu Singh wrote a letter to the Chief Minister inquiring for an SIT investigation into this game of land sales, according to IANS. The sources claim that a list has been issued by the Revenue Department in this regard.

Meanwhile, the ADA authorities have said that investigations were ongoing and that strict action was being taken against those who are guilty.

These include the names of Municipal Corporation Ayodhya Mayor Rishikesh Upadhyay, Municipal MLA Ved Prakash Gupta and former MLA Gorakhnath Baba and many others, according to IANS. However, there is no doubt that many names are said to have high clout in power.
