Hate speeches against Muslims at Haridwar ‘Dharm Sansad’: Jamiat demands strong action by Centre

New Delhi: Registering strong protest over the reported call for ethnic cleansing and genocide of Muslims made from ”Dharm Sansad” at Haridear in Uttarakhand last week, one of the leading Muslim organisations Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind on Thursday wrote a letter to the Home Minister, rights bodies and other authorities to take cognisance of the hate speeches and bring the guilty to book.

A three-day conclave was organized by the controversial Hindutva leader, Yati Narsinghanand, from 17 to 19 December in Haridwar, where multiple calls to kill minorities and attack their religious spaces were made, Jamiat President Maulana Mahmood A. Madani said in the letter which was also sent to Uttarakhand Chief Minister, NHRC and National Commission for Minorities.

At the event, called ‘Dharam Sansad’, whose theme was “The Future of Sanatan in Islamic India: Problems and Solutions, and whose chief patron was Narsginhanand, accused of several hate speeches in the past, many of the speakers made outrageous remarks, and made open calls for genocide of Muslims , Maualna Madani said.

Some of the quotes from the speeches at the event cited by him in the letter are:

“If anybody is ready to become Prabhakaran, chief of the deadly terrorist organization LTTE, of Hindu I will firstly donate one crores rupee and can raise up to hundred crore for the cause. Every Hindu temple needs a Prabhakaran, a Bhindarwale.” Yati Nasinghnand Saraswati.

“Christmas and Eid will not be celebrated here, Haridwar. No hotel owner should dare to do so.” Swami Anandaswaroop.

“If 100 Hindus build an army and kill two million Muslims then it could be declared victory of Hindu. We must be ready to kill and get killed. This is an alarming situation.” Annapurna Maa

“Each Hindu must spend a good amount to raise better weapons. Sharp edge sword must be in each Hindu house.” Swami Amritanand.

“If I were parliamentarian and had a gun, I would have shot all six bullets in Manmohan Singh’s chest, then Prime Minister of India.”( Dharam Das Maharaj).

“Like in Myanmar, here too (India), Army, Police, Leader and each Indian citizen must join this cleaning campaign to root out them (referring to Muslims). Get prepared and discuss preparations to do the same.” ( Prabodhanand).

According to media reports, the event was also attended by BJP leader Ashwini Upadhyay, who has previously been arrested for an event he helped organise where slogans were raised calling for violence against Muslims. Besides BJP Mahila Morcha leader Udita Tyagi was also present at the event.

The Jamiat leader said such events,”have posed threat to the peace and communal harmony of the country. I demand strong actions must be taken against organizers and speakers.”
