FICSI launches digital course on safe food handling practices

New Delhi: Impelled by the constraints of the situation arising out of Covid-19 pandemic, the Food Industry Capacity & Skill Initiative (FICSI), a Sector Skill Council for Food Processing, has launched its Learning Management System (LMS) under the name ‘FICSI Online Training & Assessment Academy’, to provide skilling in Food Processing sector through  digital learning .

The course launched is on “Safe Practices for Retailers and Retail Workers handling Food and Safe Practices for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises manufacturing Food during COVID-19 pandemic”. These courses are prepared in association with FSSAI, FICCI, NIFTEM and various Industry Partners. The duration of the course completion is 90min, at the end of which a certificate is issued to each participant.

Dilip Chenoy, Secretary General, FICCI joined as the Chief Guest for the launch of the ‘FICSI Online Training & Assessment Academy’ via Webinar in the presence of Dr. C. Vasudevappa, Vice Chancellor, NIFTEM and Akshay Bector, President, FICSI & CMD, Cremica Food Industries Ltd as the Guests of Honor.

Speaking on the launch of the FICSI Online Training & Assessment Academy, Becto said “At FICSI, our endeavor is to focus on strengthening each and every sub-sector in the Food Processing Sector and with the launch of FICSI Online Training & Assessment Academy, we aim at building it as a one-stop e-learning solution for the Food Processing Industry. We are constantly developing supporting learning resources to create skilled manpower in the industry. The courses focus on imparting sufficient knowledge around industry preparedness to deal with the COVID19 situation. Moreover, we continue to seek support from the industry bodies like FSSAI, FICCI & NSDC to keep up with the momentum of learning and building a strong community.”

Mr. Sunil Marwah, CEO, FICSI highlighted  the importance of giving a clear understanding to the workers of unorganized retail and manufacturing sector handling food.
