Lucknow: Eminent Islamic scholar and Vice President of the Muslim Personal Law Board Maulana Kalbe Sadiq breathed his last here this evening after a prolonged illness.
Maulana Sadiq was undergoing treatment at the Era medical college.
A reformer, educationist and preacher, who was known for his erudition, Maulana Sadiq has written several books and delivered lectures in several countries.
The 82-year-old was suffering from pneumonia and was admitted to the the hospital over a month ago.
His father Kalbe Hussain and his brother Kalbe Abid were also Islamic scholars. He is the uncle of Shia Scholar Kalbe Jawad. He received his early education from the madrasa, Sultan ul Madaris and obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Aligarh Muslim University. He later went on to pursue his master’s degree in Arabic Literature from the same University. He got his doctorate from the Lucknow University.
