Prime Minister Narendra Modi on ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ again tried to rake up certain portions of the past which are controversial in a bid to reaffirm his approach to see the history.
While marking the day at Delhi’s Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in Delhi on Monday, he said Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and his people wanted to change the religion of Guru Gobind Singh’s children by the force of a sword.
Modi said: “Against the terror of Aurangzeb, against his plans to change India, Guru Gobind Singh ji stood like a mountain. Aurangzeb and his people wanted to change the religion of Guru Gobin Singh’s children by the force of a sword.”
He further said, according to ANI: “Three centuries ago, Chamkaur and Sirhind wars were fought. On one side, there was Mughal Sultanate blind to communal extremism and on the other hand, there were our Gurus.”
“On the one hand, there was terrorism and on the other hand, there is spiritualism. On the one hand, there was communal mayhem, while on the other hand, there was liberalism…on one hand, there were forces of lakhs, while on the other hand, there were Veer Sahibzaade who didn’t relent at all,” PM added.
The PM also cast aspersions on the established historians for building certain narrative. He said: “A country that has such history should be filled with confidence but unfortunately, in the name of history, we were taught only certain narratives which leads to an inferiority complex.”
He, however, said: “If we want to take India to newer heights of success then we have to become free from the narrow perspectives of the past.”
During the programme, PM also flagged off a march-past by about three thousand children in Delhi on this momentous occasion. On 9th January 2022, the day of the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the PM had announced that 26th December would be observed as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’, to mark the martyrdom of sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh – Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji.
