The renowned social worker, Uzma Parveen, has claimed that the police put her under house arrest on Independence Day. She says the police did not allow her to participate in programs to celebrate in the 75th Independence Day in Lucknow.
Uzma, one of the prominent faces of the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protest, posted on social media this morning that the police were not allowing her to go out to unfurl the national flag. She also posted the revolutionary slogan “Hindustan Zindabad-Inquilab Zindabad.”
According to Uzma, the last time she celebrated Independence Day was in 2019 and Republic Day in 2020 at Ghanta Ghar premises. “Since my participation in the anti-CAA protest in 2020, on every such occasion, the administration used to deployed police outside my residence in Haiderganj locality.”
In the early morning of August 15th, 2022, at 5 a.m., the Uttar Pradesh Police knocked on my door and asked me to stay at home, “Uzma added. “They once again deprived me from my fundamental right of celebrating the independence day of my beloved country.”
She once again came live on social media on August 15, at around 3 pm. In a live video on Facebook, Uzma was seen in asking police about the reason for her alleged house arrest. It appears in the video that the female police inspector, sitting downstairs in her apartment, chooses to be tight-lipped on her question.
Uzma, who was also famous as “Lucknow ki Jhansi ki Rani”, alleged that the police put her under house arrest without giving or showing her any official order for it.
This was not the first time when she had not been allowed to move out of her house. Earlier too, she was denied participation in protests and social movements.
It is to be mentioned here that many cases have been registered against her during the anti-CAA protest that was held at Ghanta Ghar (Husainabad). The Bazar Khala police confirmed that police were deployed outside her place. – INDIA NEWS STREAM
