RCP Singh meets Nitish Kumar after long gap, fuels speculation over political future

Patna: After a long gap, former Union Minister and ex-JD-U leader RCP Singh met former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at the latter’s official residence in Patna.

The interaction, which came after a prolonged period of political distance between the two leaders, has revived speculation about RCP Singh’s future political course.

RCP Singh, on Saturday, shared details of the meeting on social media, posting a photograph with Nitish Kumar.

In his post, RCP Singh described the interaction as cordial and stated that he met his former leader and held discussions with him.

According to party sources, RCP Singh waited outside Nitish Kumar’s residence along with his supporters.

When Kumar came out, RCP Singh greeted him respectfully.

Photographs from the occasion show the two leaders standing together.

Some accounts suggest that Nitish Kumar briefly acknowledged him before interacting with other party workers and leaders.

RCP Singh, however, has maintained that he did meet and speak with Nitish Kumar and described the interaction as cordial.

The meeting has triggered fresh political speculation regarding a possible return of RCP Singh to the Janata Dal (United).

However, neither RCP Singh nor the JD(U) leadership has made any official announcement regarding his political future.

Reports in political circles suggest that Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, may have played a role in facilitating the meeting, although there has been no official confirmation.

RCP Singh was once regarded as one of Nitish Kumar’s closest associates.

After serving as an IAS officer, he took voluntary retirement and entered active politics through the JD-U.

Over the years, Nitish Kumar entrusted him with several key responsibilities, including National General Secretary of the JD-U, National President of the JD-U, and Rajya Sabha member on two occasions.

He later became a Union Minister in the central government.

Relations between the two leaders deteriorated during his tenure as a Union Minister, eventually leading to his exit from the JD-U.

After leaving the party, RCP Singh joined the BJP but was unable to establish a major political role there.

Later, he became associated with the Jan Suraaj movement led by Prashant Kishor.

His daughter also contested the recent Bihar Assembly elections but was unsuccessful.
