Bihar Anjuman celebrates 21 years of grass-roots philanthropy, hosts its annual event

RIYADH: With more than 600 members of the Indian community, including women and children mainly from the eastern Indian states of Bihar and Jharkhand, the grand annual get-together of Bihar Anjuman’s Riyadh Chapter featured special guests, a look back at 21 years of its social service, along with a peek at what’s next in store for this organization, here recently. India’s renowned civil services coach, prominent educationist, and author, Sameer Ahmed Siddiqui, was the chief guest on this occasion.

In his keynote address, Sameer appreciated the works and achievements of BA while explaining the new trends and innovations in the education sector, professional training, and career trajectory of students. Sameer, who flew to Riyadh to attend the Bihar Anjuman’s function and to visit the holy cities of Makkah and Medinah, captivated the audience with his thoughts about new and innovative aspects of education with special reference to artificial intelligence, learning, and innovation.

Sameer delivered the thought-provoking address titled “Replacing Fear with Education”, in which he challenged conventional learning and advocated for education driven by curiosity, innovation, and compassion. Sameer, whose educational materials and videos are in high demand in India and abroad, also spoke at length about the preference and importance of choosing fields of higher education aligned with the future global demands.

Highlighting the evolving landscape of work, education, and sustainability, he emphasized the critical role of entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence (AI), hydroponics, and aquaponics. These emerging domains, he noted, will be essential in a world increasingly defined by water scarcity and shifting economic priorities globally. Sameer urged students and parents to think forward and prepare for challenges with knowledge, skills, and adaptability.

The event witnessed a huge presence of Indian expatriates from Bihar and Jharkhand, along with an audience from other Indian states and diaspora organizations. The function began with a soulful recitation from the Holy Quran by Master Mohmmad Abdullah, followed by a bouquet presentation to the dignitaries, honoring their presence. The program opened with a warm welcome and introduction by Afaque Akhtar, who set the tone for the evening and invited the distinguished guests to the stage.

The first speaker, Shabbir Ahmed Vidrohi, a well-known poet and politician from Nagpur (Maharashtra), spoke in general about the situation in India with special reference to the minorities and Muslims. Dr. Mohammad Abul Farah, president of Bihar Anjuman (Riyadh Chapter), then delivered a comprehensive presentation on the organization’s activities and its annual progress report. His address highlighted the impactful work being done within the community, particularly in the field of education.

Speaking on this occasion, Abid Hussain shared a heartfelt account of the experiences and challenges faced in establishing the Book & Pen Public School (BPPS) at Nawadah, Bihar, which is an initiative of Bihar Anjuman (BA). Abid, who has been associated with the BA since its very inception, explained “the value of unity and importance of education in the modern world.” Abid’s speech was followed by the speeches of Syed Wayez Ahmad, CEO of Wayez International Group of Companies, and Dr. Mohammad Idris, medical consultant at Al Shifa Medical Services, who underlined the need for the community’s social responsibilities and educational aspirations.

A special highlight of the evening was the book launch of “The Art of Peaceful Life” by Seraj Akram, offering practical wisdom on living with purpose and balance in today’s fast-paced world. To recognize contributions and achievements, mementos were presented to guests, while certificates of commendation were given to students and sponsors. The results of the essay and speech competition were announced by Professor Faisal Zaidi, and the winners were presented with trophies.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Tauqir Nasir, who extended heartfelt appreciation to all sponsors, contributors, guests, volunteers, and supporters. A delightful dinner followed, giving attendees a chance to relax and socialize. BA Riyadh Chapter, while concluding the program, also extended heartfelt thanks to all sponsors of Shaam-e-Bihar & Jharkhand 2025 for their generous support.

Their enthusiasm truly reflected the spirit of Bihar Anjuman’s mission: “Better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.” On the second day, Bihar Anjuman successfully hosted a highly engaging and innovative business seminar on the topic “How to build a magnetic brand that sells itself.” The event, held at the Peacock Restaurant in Al-Malaz District (Riyadh), brought together a large number of business leaders, entrepreneurs, and professionals for a deep dive into modern branding and business sustainability.

Speaking at the seminar, Sameer addressed the critical challenges facing new ventures today and stated, “In this age of AI, the easiest thing is to launch a business. The hardest thing is to sustain belief.” He dissected the mechanics of enduring brands, guiding attendees through 12 crucial principles. The business seminar was supported by Syed Wayez Ahmed, chairman of Wayez International Group of Companies, which owns and operates Subhan Bakery, Lasani Cafe, Peacock Restaurant, Shaheen School, and Alipapa Global Merchandise.

The event was attended by Mohammed Zakiuddin, vice president of InnovWayz Technologies Company, Riyadh. Dr. Abdul Farah, Tauqir Nasir, S. Amanullah, and M. Miftahuddeen played key roles in organizing this business meet. The seminar was anchored by Dr Faisal Kamal Zaidi, while it concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Abdul Farah, acknowledging the speakers, guests, and attendees for making the seminar a resounding success.
