Mountaineer Shradha Gupta advances towards Everest summit after historic Manaslu climb

New Delhi: Indian mountaineer Shradha Gupta is currently on her Mount Everest expedition, marking another major milestone in her rapidly rising climbing journey after successfully summiting Mount Manaslu (8,163 metres) — the world’s eighth-highest mountain.

Shradha reached the summit of Manaslu on September 26, 2025, at 8.06 a.m., alongside elite guide Tenji Sherpa with Nirmal Purja’s Elite Exped team.

Manaslu is one of the legendary 14 peaks above 8,000 metres, located in the extreme high-altitude “death zone,” where oxygen levels are critically low, and conditions are among the harshest in mountaineering.

Her successful ascent of Manaslu reflects determination, discipline, and a steady progression from trekking and hiking to serious high-altitude mountaineering.

In a short span of three years, she has already climbed three of the Seven Summits — Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Elbrus, and Aconcagua, in addition to completing the Everest Base Camp trek.

In these three years, Gupta has moved from recreational hiking to standing on one of the highest points on Earth.

Her successful Manaslu expedition marked her first 8,000-metre summit and established her as one of the emerging Indian names in endurance mountaineering.

As she now attempts the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, Shradha’s journey continues to inspire aspiring climbers and working professionals alike, showcasing how determination and passion can redefine limits.

Based in Dubai, Shradha leads Corporate Business for the Middle East at DBS Bank and only began high-altitude climbing three years ago after rediscovering her passion for hiking in the UAE post-pandemic.

Shradha Gupta’s achievement is also a story of starting late and rising fast. Unlike many mountaineers who begin training early in life, Gupta entered climbing only after the COVID pandemic.
