K. Kavitha launches new party Telangana Rashtra Sena

Hyderabad:K. Kavitha on Saturday formally launched her political party — Telangana Rashtra Sena (TRS).

More than six months after resigning from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) following her suspension from the party led by her father and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), Kavitha floated a new party at a public meeting at Muneerabad in Medchal Malkajgiri district near here.

Interestingly, she has chosen the acronym TRS, the previous avatar of BRS.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) was launched by KCR in 2001 to revive the movement for separate state of Telangana. It became BRS in 2022 as the party planned to expand the party to other parts of the country.

Kavitha picked the acronym ‘TRS’ at a time when BRS is seriously considering the proposal to revert to TRS as the party leaders believe that the party lost connect with the people due to the name change and as a result lost power in 2023 and drew a blank in 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

“Remember The Name: Telangana Rashtra Sena; We refuse to back down, come what may; It is time the people of Telangana have their say. We will not let our aspirations decay; Be reduced to ashes if you dare come in our way. Your Time is Done, Our Time is Now,” she said on social media platform X.

Addressing her supporters to announce new party, Kavitha added that KCR is no longer the same person.

She said KCR did not stand with people, especially farmers and poor in times of distress.

“He (KCR) has become a robot,” she remarked.

She also said that KCR has lost his political maturity.

She criticised the former Chief Minister for saying that people made the mistake by defeating the BRS.

Kavitha alleged that KCR went to other states with plans to expand BRS but ignored people of his own state.

She said she was sent out of the party for speaking about corruption in Kaleshwaram project and those involved were protected.

She also trained guns on her brother and BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), saying he knows nothing.

“BRS single agenda big boss should stay in the farmhouse, and the younger boss should become Chief Minister,” Kavitha said.

She also remarked that she feels ashamed to being part of the family that once ruled Telangana.

Saying that the BRS has lost its direction, Kavitha said the dream of social justice was shattered.

“This is not the Telangana we dreamt of. I apologise for my role in the past,” she added and declared that she wants to rebuild Telangana with social justice and dignity.

Kavitha declared that her fight would be against all three parties — Congress, BRS and BJP.

She claimed that TRS would be a credible alternative and will fight for social justice in Telangana.

She said just as the sole agenda of the Congress is to make Rahul Gandhi the country’s Prime Minister, BRS wants to make KTR the next Telangana Chief Minister.

She alleged that BJP is against social justice and that it failed to safeguard Telangana’s interests at the national level.

K. Kavitha, a former MP who floated cultural outfit Telangana Jagruthi during the statehood movement, recalled her relentless struggle for Telangana.

She claimed that Telangana Jagruthi played a key role in the Telangana movement.

Before the announcement of her new political party, Kavitha took blessings of religious leaders from all faiths at her residence in Banjara Hills.

Earlier, Kavitha and her husband Anil Kumar performed pujas at their residence.
