Drone strikes Kuwait-Iraq border crossing

Kuwait City: The Abdali border crossing – Kuwait’s northern land port with Iraq – was targeted by drones, causing material damage with no casualties.

“The Official Spokesman for the Ministry of Defence, Major General Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi, stated that the Abdali border crossing was subjected, this afternoon, to an attack by hostile drones, which resulted in material damage, with no human casualties recorded,” the Kuwait Army wrote on X.

He added that the specialised teams immediately began, upon the occurrence of the incident, to handle it and take the necessary measures to secure the site, in coordination with the relevant authorities.

“The inspection and disposal teams affiliated with the Land Force have also commenced survey and securing operations, and the removal of drone remnants, in accordance with approved technical procedures, to ensure the site’s safety and freedom from any hazards,” the Kuwaiti Army stated on X.

Earlier in the day, Iran said that US bases and assets in Kuwait and Jordan were hit in a new round of its retaliation strikes, which inflicted personnel casualties and heavy military losses there.

Iranian forces hit and destroyed in a drone attack a large military equipment warehouse, a Patriot air defence system and a hangar of MQ-9 Reaper drones, all belonging to the United States, at the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait “to punish the US Army for its interventions in the Strait of Hormuz,” Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in statements published on its official Sepah News.

The Iranian army also said it hit a Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) anti-missile system, a Patriot air defence system, a C-RAM radar system and fuel storage facilities at US bases in Jordan, and destroyed a large warehouse of US helicopter parts and a silo for the maintenance and repair of American helicopters, Xinhua News Agency reported.
