Iran trying to export revolution, impose its own set of beliefs on others: UAE envoy

March 18, 2019

New Delhi: The UAE on Monday hit out at Iran, accusing it of interfering in the affairs of the countries of the region, and trying to impose its own set of belief and thinking.

”Iran was trying to export revolution to other countries of the region,”  UAE Ambassador to India Ahmed Albanna said here.

He accused Iran of playing very sinister game of interfering in the affairs of small Arab countries and also countries of north and east Africa.

The envoy said Iran was also illegally occupying three of UAE’s islands, but  despite many issue with the country, the UAE was trying to find a peaceful solution of the problem.

Mr Albanna’s remarks came while explaining response to a question on India-Pakistan relationship after his lecture at the Delhi IIT here on the subject of India-UAE ties.

He said  his country would always support peaceful resolution of the issues between India and Pakistan and did its bit to defuse tension between the two countries after the situation recently escalated in the wake of the Pulwama terror attack.

Mr Albanna said UAE was dead against radicalisation and terrorism, which could never be justified in the name of anything.
