Tharoor gets anticipatory bail in Sunanda Pushkar death case

New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was today granted anticipatory bail by the Patiala House
Court here in the case of his wife Sunanda Pushkar’s death.
The court accepted Tharoor’s anticipatory bail plea on the condition that he will not tamper with evidence and not leave the country without the court’s permission. He has also to submit a surety of Rs 1 lakh.
The big relief came for the Congress MP two days before he was to appear in court to stand trial in the case.
Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in the national capital’s Leela hotel on the night of January 17, 2014.
The SIT probing the case had opposed bail for Tharoor.
On june five, the Delhi court had ordered him to appear before it on July 7, taking cognisance of the charge sheet filed in the case. The Thiruvanantham MP has been charged under 498A( husband or his relative subjecting a woman to cruelty) and Section 306(abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code.
