Mandsaur rape: Rahul says nation must come together to protect children

New Delhi: Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday gave vent to his anguish over the gang rape of an eight-year-old girl in Madhya Pradesh, calling upon all to come together to protect children.
”This brutality this young child was subjected to sickens me. As a nation, we must come together to protect our children and bring the attackers to speedy justice,” Gandhi said in a tweet.
The girl was picked up by culprits while she was waiting for her father outside her school in Mandsaur. After being subjected to gang rape, her throat was slit and she was abandoned.
Two construction workers Irfan, 20, and Asif, 24, have been arrested for the crime that took place on Tuesaday.
Doctor treating the child said the assault was ”severe”, but now she had started showing sign of improvement.
Political leaders and other eminent personalities across the nation have expressed shock over the incident.
