Lucknow/ Gurugram: Samajwadi Party patriarch, MP and a veteran politician Mulayam Singh Yadav breathed his last here on Monday after a prolonged illness.
His demise was announced by his son and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav through a tweet.
Mulayam Singh, who dominated UP politics for decades, was 82 .
He had been admitted to the Medanta hospital in Gurugram on August 22 and was on life support system since the past one week.
According to hospital sources, the end came at 8.15 a.m. on Monday.
The veteran Samajwadi Party leader was facing difficulty in breathing and was under the supervision of an internal medicine expert at the Medanta Hospital, as per sources. Singh was suffering from a urinary infection as well, hospital sources had said.
In a health bulletin on Sunday, Medanta Hospital had state that his condition was quite critical and that he was on life-saving drugs. (With IANS input).
