New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today called up Imran Khan, Chairperson of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Isteqlal party, and congratulated him for his party emerging as the largest political group in the National Assembly in the recently conducted general elections.
”The Prime Minister expressed hope that democracy will take deeper roots in Pakistan,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement here.
Prime Minister also reiterated his vision of peace and development in the entire neighborhood, it said.
Khan, the cricket star-turned politician is slated to take oath as prime minister on August 11. His party, which is short of number, has reportedly contacted some political groups for support.
