MCD polls underway; Results on December 7

New Delhi: Delhiities are today voting elect their representatives to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).  Polls for 250 wards of MCD started at 8 a.m. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal urged the people to exercise their franchise for setting up an “honest party that works not for those who stop the works”.

On the other hand Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta after casting his vote at the West Patel Nagar wardd said that people know who is the best to vote for.

The results will be declared on December 7.

Kejriwal in a tweet, he said, “Vote for honest party, vote for decent and good people. Do not vote for those who abuse corruption, hooliganism. Do not vote for those who litter Delhi. Vote for those who will make Delhi shine and clean.Vote for those who work, don’t vote for those who stop working”.

In an earlier tweet, the Delhi CM said in Hindi, “Today vote for making a neat and clean and beautiful Delhi, vote to form a corruption-free government (establishment) at the municipal corporation. I appeal to all the Delhi citizens to go for voting to form an honest and performing government at the MCD”.

Adesh Gupta said, “I just cast my vote. It is everyone’s responsibility… so come out and vote. I will only say the BJP has come out with the report card. The work we have done in the MCD in the state and at Centre is in front of the public. On the other hand, there is the AAP with the number of corruption cases they have. Their minister is in jail and yet enjoying massage and luxury food inside the jail”.

“I will only say, people know the best and everything is open to everyone. So cast your vote responsibly,” he added.

People were gradually flocking to cast their votes at various polling stations for the 250 seats of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The results will be declared on December 7.

Over 1.45 crore voters in Delhi are eligible to vote in the polls for which more than 13,000 polling booths have been set up across the city. Voting will conclude at 5.30 pm.IANS
