Police joins AMU students’ roza-Iftaar for peace of killed anti-NRC-CAA protesters

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University(AMU) Students today observed fast to pray for the peace of the soul of those who were killed in police action while protesting against CAA and NRC, and the roza-Iftar hosted at the the main University gate Baab-e-Syed was joined in by senior police officers of the civil lines area.

AMU was the scene of violent police action on students who were taking out a peaceful march against CAA and NRC on the night of December 15. Several students were critically injured with one of them having his hand blown off.

Former President of the AMU Students’ Union Faizul Hasan said they invited the police officers on duty in the area as they did not harbour any enmity or ill will towards anyone and wanted to send a message that the students of the University were peace but wanted to exercise their right to protest against any law which they thought was unjust and against the Constitution.

Police CO of the area said,” We joined in the iftaar as we were very cordially invited by the student leaders. We want that peace should be maintained and if sitting with students helps in peace we are all for it.”

Faizul Hasan said that the message of our Prophet was to have love even for your enemy and love begets love and hate begets hate. ” We want that this government should give up its hate for us and listen to our demands with understanding.”
