JMI retains its QS World University Ranking, placed at 751-800 position

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has retained its rank in the coveted Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking at 751-800 with its research intensity described as ‘very high”.

The QS global rankings 2020 released in London has taken into account 1620 institutions worldwide and published the ranking of 1001 institutions out of it.

At 334 globally, the Faculty Student ratio is the strongest indicator for JMI, the report said.

JMI has been put at 13th position among the 23 Indian institutions featured in the QS Ranking 2020. Among the Indian universities featured in the ranking JMI has been placed at 4th position, above Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Banaras Hindu University (BHU).

Expressing her delight over JMI’s consistent good performance in world rankings, Vice Chancellor, JMI, Prof. Najma Akhtar said that it reflected the university’s focus on high quality research, good teaching, quality publications and good faculty student ratio.

While giving credit for these achievements to the teaching community, Prof. Akhtar underlined “ they have to make extra efforts on various parameters to make the university one of the best institutions internationally”.

Recently JMI has been ranked at the 12th position in the country by MHRD’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF-2019) in Universities category.

JMI also improved its rank in the London-based Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings- 2019, improving its position from 201-250 previous year to 188 rank this year. THE gives specific rank to the university which comes under 200 rank.

The university has been ranked at 631 position worldwide by Moscow-based Round University Ranking(RUR) 2019 among the world’s 1100 universities assessed, improving its position from 747 last year.
