Aryan Khan drug case: Punished for being a patriot, claims Sameer Wankhede on CBI raids

  • Sameer Wankhede demanded ₹25 crore bribe for not framing charges against Aryan Khan
  • CBI recovered Rs 28K his sister Yasmin Wankhede’s house
  • Wankhede was dismissed last year after SIT found inconsistencies in the raid. It gave a clean chit to Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan.

Former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede, accused of demanding a bribe of Rs. 25 crore in the drugs-on-cruise case involving Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, has claimed that he was being persecuted because of his “patriotism.” His statement came in response to the Central Bureau of Investigation raids at his residence and other premises on Friday.

“I am getting rewarded for being a patriot. Yesterday 18 CBI officials raided my residence and searched it for more than 12 hours while my wife and children were present in the house. They found Rs 23,000 and four property papers. These assets were acquired before I joined the service,” said Wankhede.

Wankhede was dismissed last year following an investigation by the Special Team of Investigation (SIT), which discovered inconsistencies in the raid and gave a clean chit to Aryan.

IRS officer Sameer Wankhede allegedly demanded Rs 25 crore bribe for not framing Aryan Khan out of which he obtained Rs 50 lakh. The CBI has booked Sameer Wankhede and three others in connection with a corruption case related to the Aryan Khan drugs-on-cruise case.

Issuing a statement, Wankhede said his resident was searched for more than 12 hours when his wife and children were present. “They found ₹23,000 and four property papers. These assets were acquired before I joined the service…I am getting rewarded for being a patriot,” Wankhede said. His wife Marathi actor Kranti Redkar’s phone has been taken away by the CBI officials, Wankhede said, as reported by news agency ANI.

CBI recovered Rs 28,000 from his sister Yasmin Wankhede’s house and Rs 28,000 from his father Dnyaneshwar Wankhede’s house. 1800 rupees were also recovered from Sameer the residence of Wankhede’s father-in-law.

As per Mint, Wankhede, reportedly shunted out of the NCB last year, allegedly sought a bribe of Rs. 25 crore from the owners of Cordelia Cruise ship and not from SRK, as several other reports claimed. Aryan spent four weeks in jail in 2021 and was cleared of all charges by the NCB in May 2022 due to a “lack of sufficient evidence.”
